The Woman I Became is a musical memoir told through fifteen songs about love, responsibility, fear, growth and finding your own voice. The album begins with a life that was never planned and follows Jenalyn as she learns to build a home between two cultures, care for a family, study after long working days and take on responsibilities she once believed were beyond her.
The songs move between intimate moments and life-changing experiences. They explore cultural differences through shared meals, the courage learned from caring for goats, the quiet discipline of studying after sunset and the strength required when someone you love becomes vulnerable.
The woman who was there all along
At its heart, the album is not about becoming a completely different person. It is about recognising how every challenge, relationship, mistake and ordinary day helped shape the woman who was there all along.
